Kpone, Sept 09, GNA -- Joni and Friends Ministries, a non-governmental organisation based in California, on Monday presented 35 wheelchairs and crutches to the Tema General Hospital and three communities in the Tema municipality.
The communities are Kpone and Tema Manhean.
Making the presentation at three different functions, Mr John Wern, Director of the Joni/Friends Ministries, said he hoped the beneficiaries of the equipment would utilise the wheel chairs and equipment to improve upon their lives.
The NGO intends bringing in 3,500 wheel chairs, crutches and canes. Mr Samuel Evans Ashong Narh, Tema Municipal Chief Executive, advised parents and guardians against confining the physically challenged persons. They should upgrade their knowledge and lead normal lives.
Dr Otu Tawiah, Acting Medical Superintendent of the Tema General Hospital, said the items had come at an opportune time when the hospital's wheel chairs and clutches are almost worn out. He said the hospital is grateful to the TMA for always responding to their needs. 09 Sept. 03
