Kukurantumi (E/R), March 12, GNA - The Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, Dr Donald Bobiash, on Friday inaugurated a 56 million-cedi training equipment donated to the Adom Fie Vocational School at Kukurantumi.
The equipment, which was a donation to the school by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), consists of cooking and hairdressing tools, and other materials.
Dr Bobiash called on the youth to take vocational training serious to acquire employable skills.
He advised the youth to set up small-scale businesses to help break the poverty cycle currently facing the nation. In a speech read on his behalf, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Yaw Barimah, said the socio-economic and political challenges facing the nation now was a result of the inability of the nation to respond positively and adequately to such needs in the past. He called on the youth to learn hard to acquire the requisite knowledge and skills in their scope of career development in order to face challenges ahead of them.
The proprietress of the Institute, Ms Doris Danso, expressed gratitude to the donors and pledged that the equipment would be put to good use. She appealed to other benevolent institutions to come to the aid of the school.
