Nkoranza (B/A), Feb. 7, GNA- A team of Christian Medical personnel from Northview Community Church of Canada had arrived in the country to provide free medical services to residents of Nkoranza in Brong Ahafo. Christian in Action, Ghana, a religious non-governmental organization (NG0), is hosting the team, made up of four nurses, a dentist and a medical doctor.
Dr. Jim Pankratz, the medical doctor, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza on Wednesday that they had attended to about 200 patients since they started work on Monday, February 2. He said cases attended to included heart and lung problems, malaria, abdominal pains, diarrhea related cases, skin diseases, coughing and asthma.
The medical doctor explained that with the exception of hereditary traits, people with high blood pressure should limit taking meals that could give them more weight as that could lead to the problem.
Dr. Pankratz advised the people aged more than 40 years to desist from taking much salt as that could also lead them to develop high blood pressure.
Dr. Sam Edworthy, the dentist, who attended to about 50 patients with dental problems, noted that patients did not give the needed care to their teeth.
He explained that better and strong teeth depended on dental cleanliness and advised the people to use better toothpaste and brushes to keep their teeth strong.
After performing surgery on some patients with serious tooth problems, the medical officers supplied more than 1000 pieces of toothpaste and brushes to the people and urged them to use them to keep their teeth clean and healthy.
Mr. and Mrs. Eljin Taylor, leaders of Christian in Action Church, Ghana are leading the medical team.
