Cape Coast Wesley Methodist Church fetes the aged

Cape Coast, Dec 27, GNA - The Reverend Isaac Kweku Sam, Superintendent Minister at the Wesley Methodist Church in Cape Coast on Monday, called on the aged to use their rich experience to help solve disputes in families and the society to facilitate peace in the country. He said that as "historians" of the family, clan and the society, they are recognised as the "pots of wisdom" and should use their expertise to help in building the nation.

Rev Sam made the call when the Church feted more than 300 aged members of the parish at Cape Coast.

Each of them was presented with a loaf of bread, cakes, soft drinks and an amount of 20,000 cedis cash.

They were also entertained with songs by the Church Choir and members of the Cape Coast Lions Club.

He urged them to continue as role models to the youth and to inculcate the fear of God and respect for the elderly in and endeavour to let the truth prevail.

Mr Samuel Aikins, Local President of the Lions Club, called on the youth to respect and show love for the aged stressing that they could only learn from the older generation when they show respect and love for them.

He prayed for God's guidance and protection for them and donated 500,000 cedis cash and a quantity of soft drinks to them, in line with the Club's social responsibility towards the aged.
