Cape Coast enjoys accident and crime-free Christmas

Cape Coast, Dec 29, GNA - Cape Coast and its surrounding communities enjoyed accident and crime free Christmas as the police recorded only three minor road accidents with no injuries whilst no crimes were recorded.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Kennedy Amoh, officer in-charge of the Central Regional Office of the MTTU, told the Ghana News Agency on Monday that the minor accidents involved three vehicles bumping into the rears of three other vehicles within Cape Coast.

He said the accident rate around the same time last year was more serious but could not provide the figures for last year.

Mr Amoh attributed the current situation to the vigilance on the part of Police personnel as well as the positive impact the education campaigns mounted by the Ghana Road Safety Commission had on motorists. He appealed to drivers to continue to adhere to traffic regulations and to be more cautious on the road.

At the crime office a source told the GNA that no major crimes like robbery, murder and rape, which are usually committed during such occasions, were recorded, and hoped the situation would prevail into the New Year.

It said many people are now security conscious and have evolved adequate measures to protect themselves and their property.
