The Central Regional Minister, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah has promised to ensure that the Muslim Community in Cape Coast benefits from the next batch of Community Senior High Schools (SHS) to be built across the country.
The assurance, follows series of appeals by the Muslim community despite opinions that Cape Coast, touted to as the citadel of education; already has many including majority of the well renowned SHS in the country.
Mr Quansah gave the assurance when he joined hundreds of orthodox Muslims who converged at the Holy Child School grounds on Thursday to pray and mark this year's Eid-Ul-Adha celebrations, the Muslim festival of sacrifice.
He urged Muslims not to only see the celebration as a time for animal sacrifices and merry making but also reflect on the purpose and dedicate themselves to the community and country in furtherance of the religion.
He urged Muslims to continually pray for the country for peace and unity to reign in the country particularly in all political parties.
The Sarkin Zongo of Cape Coast, Alhaji Mahmoud Dandey Mazawagay IV, hailed the assurance of the minister and indicated that the Muslim community is ready to provide a land for the construction of the school.
He called on Ghanaians to exercise restraint as the Electoral Commission addresses concerns relating to the voter register.
Alhaji Mazawagay said conflicts are part of life but must always be resolved amicably.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast, Mr Kweku Rickets Hagan promised to address all concerns raised by the Muslim community.
At the Cape Coast Technical Institute Park, where the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission converged to mark the occasion, Maulvi Hafiz Abdul Nassir, Regional Missionary of the Mission advised Muslims to emulate the submissiveness and obedience of Abraham and live exemplary lives.
Mr Ebo Barton Odro, MP for Cape Coast North, disclosed plans to fence the Ahmadiyya Basic School at Abura.
He called on Muslims to continually pray for the country’s development.
Mrs Babara Asher Ayisi New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast North, advised Muslims not to allow themselves to be divided by politics and called for peace and tolerance ahead of next year’s election.
