Tema, March 14, GNA - A car dealer who used fictitious documents to register a Nissan Sunny has been granted bail in the sum of 50 million cedis by the Tema Circuit Court "B".

Bright Adjei pleaded not guilty to using forged documents and will reappear on March 31 2004.

Prosecuting, Inspector Teye Martey told the court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that on July 27, 2003, security agencies had information that the accused, a clearing agent from the Republic of Togo, had a Nissan Sunny taxi with the registration number GT 8946 U with suspicious documents.

The prosecutor said the taxi was intercepted in front of the Tema Fishing Harbour police station and when the driver was requested to produce the relevant documents covering the car, the accused came to intervene that it had been duly registered.

He said when investigations were conducted by the police at the Tema office of the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority, it was found out that the said registration number belonged to a Toyota mini-bus whose owner lived at Bubuashie in Accra.

Inspector Martey said further investigations revealed that the Nissan Sunny taxi had no genuine roadworthiness and insurance certificates.
