Sunyani (B/A) Sept. 20, GNA - The Youth Caravan Project (YCP) team, which arrived at Sunayani at the weekend would spend a week to create awareness on the Youth Policy in four municipalities in the region.
Mr. Kobina Afena Sam, Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinator of National Youth Authority, (NYA) told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Sunyani at the handing-over ceremony of the Youth Caravan Project Train. It arrived from Wa, the capital of the Upper West Region.
He said the Project aims at educating Ghanaians on the National Youth Policy’s priority areas.
The Caravan, which took off from Accra on August 16, is touring all the 10 regions.
Areas to be focused are: Youth Health; Sexuality and HIV and AIDS, Conflict Prevention and Peace Building; Volunteerism; Drug and Substance Abuse, (Enforcement and Responses) among others.
Members of the team would pay courtesy calls on the Municipal/District Chief Executives (MDCEs) and traditional authorities of areas they would visit, Mr Sam said.
Today, a youth forum on health will be held at the community centre and the team will tour some historic sites in Kintampo.
He said the Caravan would depart for Techiman, where the MCE would receive it at Tano Boase and visit the Christo Buase Monastery and Stone Caves.
The regional co-ordinator said the caravan would on Wednesday September 21, hold a youth durbar on youth crime and sanitation and a focal group discussion on entrepreneurship.
Sunyani Municipality would have its turn on Thursday with a youth forum on entrepreneurship and a focal group forum on Sexuality and Health with faith-based youth leaders, Mr. Sam said.
On Thursday September 23, Mr Sam said, there would be a public forum at Yawsae on Adolescent Reproductive Health, a public forum at Atronie on Peace Building and Conflict Prevention.
He said the Caravan would leave Sunyani for Goaso in the Asunafo North to organise the programme at Fawohoyeden where there would be a “Bird Watching” programme (the white necked rock fowl) at Asumura forest, a focal group forum at Youth Leadership and Training Centre and also games/entertainment among the team and some of the youth of Asumura.
The Brong-Ahafo programme would come to a close on Sunday, September 25, with a health walk, after which the Caravan would depart for the Western Region to continue with the national project, Mr. Sam indicated.
On Monday, the National and Brong-Ahafo teams moved to Kintampo Waterfalls where they discussed Environmental Conservation, Climate and Eco-Tourism.
