Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, Eastern Regional Minister, has warned that any childhood development centre found to be violating the laws governing operations of day care centres would be closed.

A speech read on his behalf at the graduation ceremony for caregivers of early childhood development centres urged the care givers to give a solid foundation to the children they teach.

The training was organised by the Department of Social Development under the Social Welfare Department at the Vocational Training Centre in Koforidua.

Participants at the training came from 15 districts and municipalities across the region to learn about early childhood care to ensure development of the child.

Mr Antwi-Bosiako urged care givers to offer the needed support to disabled children and treat them with much love and affection.

Dr Kwaku Owusu Acheampong, Municipal Chief Executive, said the outbreak of cholera was the result of poor hygiene by the citizenry and pleaded with the care givers to teach the kids good sanitation practices to enable them to grow into responsible adults.

Madam Sarah Kwao, Programme Head for Child Right Promotion and Protection, Department of Social Welfare, pleaded with owners of private schools who could not participate in this year’s programme to join it next year.

Fifty nine females and five males graduated.
