Elubo (W/R), Aug. 12, GNA - The Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese of the Catholic Church has donated items worth 15,000 Ghana Cedis to the Ivorian Refugees at the Eagle Start Transit Camp at Elubo.
The items included 10 cartons Gino tomatoes paste, eight gallons cooking oil, 50 mini-bags rice, six cartons of ideal milk, three cartons of key soap, three bags of sugar, a packet of toilet roll, 20 bales of used clothing and 10 packets of quacker Oat.
The Vicar General of the Diocese, Rev. Father Eric Awotwe Dadson, presented the item on behalf of the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. John Martin Darko.
He said the items were bought with contributions from members of the parishes in the Diocese and the Presenting Brother from Tamale in the Northern Region.
He said whatever be the ethnic, economic and nationality of the refugees, “we are all God’s children from one family and brothers and sister”.
Mr Kwesi-Nimpa Kwame, Elubo Zonal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, received the items on behalf of CARITAS Ghana.
He thanked the donors and appealed to other churches and philanthropists to follow the Catholic Church’s example.
