The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has donated a quantity foodstuff and assorted items valued at about 80 million cedis to victims of last year's ethnic clash at Zaare, a suburb of Bolgatanga.

Mr. Nyaaba Agambilla, Bolgatanga District Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga.

He said in the aftermath of the disturbances, NADMO sent out appeals to a number of international relief organisations, charitable NGOs and philanthropists to come to the aid of the victims, and expressed the optimism that more responses were being expected.

He explained that NADMO's priority concern was to extend assistance to victims of natural disasters, and urged the feuding factions, therefore, to bury their differences and to co-exist peacefully as they were not likely to obtain relief assistance all the time.

In May last year, fighting erupted between the Anokobisi and Ayorobisi clans of Zaare over a piece of land, during which several houses were destroyed and about 300 people displaced.
