Central Region marks Independence Day

Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, the Central Regional Minister, has said during the 55th independence anniversary celebration that it was important for people to be mindful of their utterances in the coming elections.

More than 1,500 contingents drawn from the security services and school children with DSP Godfred Asare as the commanding officer, participated in a colourful parade to commemorate the Day.

Mrs Doe the infrastructural development in the region was on course and enumerated the construction of school buildings, the sharing of free exercise books and school uniforms as part of measures to help boost education in the region.

Some Basic and Junior High Schools were given awards for their performance at the metropolitan inter schools debate with Efutu Mampong LA school merging winners, followed by the Imam Kuranu Islamic LA school and the Pedu LA school.

Awards were also presented to the best cadet corps for which Wesley Girls cadet got the first prize, followed by the Cape Coast Technical institute and the University Practice School cadet.
