The Central Regional Minister, Mr. Enoch Kweku Teye Addo, who assumed office on Monday, February 25 has visited the construction site of the new Cape Coast stadium to inspect work done so far.
Mr Addo visited the site on Friday,in the company of the project architects as well some contractors from his outfit.
He said the fifteen thousand capacity stadium is estimated to cost 30 million dollars and would be funded by the Chinese Government, adding that, construction works would soon begin after the site is properly leveled.
Mr Addo pointed out that, initially, work was to start early this year, but preparatory works on it were still not completed and that work to expand and level the ground would begin on Monday, March 4 and if possible, more contractors would be engaged to finish the job as soon as possible.
He explained that the initial plan was to erect the goal posts for the stadium from East to West but it had to be changed later from North to South as a result of the direction of the sun, necessitating the expansion and leveling of more ground for the construction.
Mr. Addo said once the proper construction of the stadium begins, it would take the contractors only 18months to complete it.
