Wa, Aug 16, GNA - The Centre for National Culture (CNC) has called on government to restructure the National Commission on Culture through the appointment of an executive director and its attendant directors to man all the departments for effective implementation of government cultural policies.
It has also appealed to the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture to ensure the immediate approval of a scheme of service for the CNC.
These were contained in a communique issued and signed by Mr. S. F. Adjei, Dean of the Association of Directors of Centre for National Culture after its four-day conference of Directors and Accountants held in Wa.
The communique called on the National Commission on Culture to facilitate and organise capacity building and training programmes on arts and culture for various staff levels within the cultural sector.
It asked for sufficient budgetary provision and prompt release of funds for the effective organisation of National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC) and other cultural activities.
The communiqu=E9 called for private sector participation in the planning and implementation of NAFAC in the ensuing years while adequate fund was provided for the completion of all uncompleted regional theatres.
It urged the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture to budget for future CNC's Regional Conferences to take off the financial burdens from the host regions.
