Chancellor endows Drolor Centre for strategic leadership at UPSA

The Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Drolor Bosso Adamtey I, (Dr. Kingsley A. Fletcher) has presented a cheque of USD100,000 towards the establishment of a Centre to be known as the Drolor Centre for Strategic Leadership (DCSL) at the UPSA.

The presentation was made during a Governing Council meeting at the University recently.

Presenting the cheque to the Governing Council, the Chancellor said, “I will continue to support and be personally involved in the development of this Centre. I am confident that UPSA will be the education hub for strategic leadership training and will produce a new generation of globally-minded leaders for the country and the rest of Africa.”

The Chancellor further announced the setup of a scholarship scheme for ten brilliant but needy students to pursue higher education at the UPSA annually.

Nine out of the ten scholarships will be awarded to students from the Se Traditional Area and a floating one for the most brilliant student from the wider Ga-Dangbe area. “This, I believe, would create more opportunities for our young people to experience quality education at a prestigious university, such as the UPSA, which is undoubtedly the fastest growing public University and the best institution for business and management education in Ghana,” he concluded. The Chancellor commended the Management of UPSA, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Alabi for their commitment and dedication towards the development of the University.

On his part, the Council Chairman, Mr. Justice Nii Aryeetey thanked the Chancellor for his vision for establishing the Centre and endowing it with such a significant amount as seed money. He promised the commitment of the Governing Council to support the Chancellor raise the University to the next level of global recognition and relevance. Regarding the scholarship scheme, the Council Chairman assured the Chancellor that Management would work out the modalities for it to become operational in the 2014/2015 academic year, starting September 2014.

Mr. Aryeetey also assured the Chancellor of Council’s continuous commitment towards fulfilling the vision and mission of the University.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Alabi also took the opportunity to express his heartfelt gratitude to the Chancellor. He pledged the commitment of Management to ensure that the University consolidates the gains made so far and to continue to work towards the transformation of the UPSA into a world-class University.
