Chemical sellers urged to refer critical cases to hospital

Cape Coast, April 20, GNA - Mr Maxwell Dodd, southern sector marketing and research manager of Kinapharma Limited, a pharmaceutical company, on Tuesday appealed to chemical sellers to refer critical malaria cases to hospitals for treatment.

He made the appeal when he opened a day's malaria control workshop for 350 chemical sellers drawn from Cape Coast municipality, Mfantseman, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem, and Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira districts of the central region at Cape Coast.

The objective of the workshop was to educate participants on malaria control, proper handling of pharmaceutical products and to introduce to participants new products of the company. He said since some of the personnel selling drugs were not trained it, was necessary to organise such a workshop to upgrade their knowledge.

Mr Kofi Koranteng, chairman of the regional branch of the Ghana chemical sellers association asked members to conform to set standards by the Pharmacy Council and also to keep their stores tidy at all times. He also appealed to them not to serve customers without prescription forms form the hospitals.

Among the new drugs introduced to participants were 'fine life blood tonic,' 'fine life cod liver oil' and 'fine life multi million capsules'.
