Nana Obinfo Osei Kwadwo 11, Akwamuhene of Anwiankwanta in the Amansie East District of Ashanti, has appealed to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) to send extension officers to the area regularly to educate farmers on new techniques in agriculture to raise food production.

He said if farmers were given enough education on new farming techniques and introduced to new crop varieties, improved seeds, the proper use of pesticides and livestock rearing, they would improve upon their yields and raise their standard of living.

Making the appeal at Anwiankwanta, Nana Osei Kwadwo noted that since agriculture is the backbone of the nation's economy, there was the need for constant education to keep farmers abreast with modern trend to help boost production.

He said the people were forming farming co-operative groups to cultivate a large track of land and therefore, appealed for loans for them.
