Chief appeals for projects in his area

Koforidua, Oct. 5 GNA - Togbe Kwame Adgevi, Chief of Kwakyea, a suburb of Koforidua, has appealed to the government to intervene in the socio-economic development of the area.

He observed that the town is one of the least developed areas in the New Juaben Municipality listing lack of KVIP, Clinic, Police Station, market and cemetery as some of the challenges. Togbe Adgevi who made this known to the Ghana News Agency, noted that the absence of these facilities is having negative impact on the community, adding that the people are living in abject poverty and squalor.

He also called for job opportunities in the town to help absorb the large numbers of unemployed youth and tapping of the local cultural heritage to boost tourism.

Togbe Adgevi said he was ready to collaborate with the government to accelerate the development of the area. He called on the people to rally behind the government to facilitate national development. Togbe Adgevi appealed to the police to intensify their patrol in the area to ward off armed robbers who threaten people at night. Mr Emmanuel Yaw Akpalu, local Chairman of the National Democratic Congress appealed to the government to rejuvenate party wings in the rural areas in order to retain power in the 2012 General Election.
