Chief appeals to Urban Roads to rehabilitate road

Coaltar (E/R), April 28, GNA - The chiefs and people of Coaltar and its environs in the Suhun-Kraboa-Coaltar District have appealed to the Department of Urban Roads and the Assembly to assist them to rehabilitate a 12-kilometer road from Adoagyiri to Coalter.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Coaltal on Tuesday at a meeting, Nana Awuku II, Nkosuohene (Development Chief) of the area said the people mostly farmers found it difficult to transport their farm produce to market places and cities for sale because of the deplorable state of the road. He said when it rained the situation get worse as drivers failed to ply the road thus leaving farmers and foodstuffs locked up in the farms. Some have to carry their wares trekking under harsh weather condition. Nana Awuku II said some of the affected farmers are from areas such as Otoase, Marfukrom, Krabokese, Anfanse, Coaltar, Ntowkrom, Laa Mangoase, Akwaadum, Duodukrom, Bepoase and Dokorochiwa.

The Nkosuohene also appealed to other philanthropists and Non Governmental Organisations to come to the aid of the community by assisting it with the establishment of a technical institute, vocational centres and factories.

He said this wou ld create employment for the youth of the area and prevent them from migrating to the townships in search of white colour jobs. Nana Awuku said lands were available in the district for prospective investors.
