Wawase (Ash), Sept 7, GNA - The chief of Wawase in the Afigya Kwabre District, Nana Obuadum Kusi Antwi I, on Tuesday appealed to the government and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure that education resources and logistics are fairly distributed to all parts of the country.

He said the situation where the best teachers and other resources are sent only to elite and well-endowed schools must change to guarantee the future of children in deprived areas. Nana Obuadum Kusi Antwi said since all students and pupils of Ghana sat the same examinations, it was the responsibility of educational authorities to prepare them adequately and fairly to give the children equal access and opportunities irrespective of their geographical location.

He told the GNA in an interview that many students and pupils in deprived areas lacked facilities like libraries, computers and science laboratories and even qualified personnel to ensure quality teaching and learning.

"Yet at the end of the day, they write the same examination with their counterparts attending well-endowed schools in the urban and peril- urban areas", he said. The Chief said he wondered why the GES should send the best teachers to the best schools, leaving schools in deprived areas to their fate and expect the same examination results.
