Chief commends government for developmental achievement

A Divisional Chief of the Gbi Traditional Council on Thursday commended the government for its developmental achievement in the rural areas since it took over the administration of the country.

Togbe Worde IV, Chief of GBI-Kpeme, said the development projects springing up in the Hohoe district indicated how the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government was tackling its rural development programme as enshrined in the party's manifesto of the party.

The Chief who spoke on behalf of Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional area, gave the commendation when the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi, paid a courtesy call on him as part of a three-day working tour to the area.

Togbe Worde called on the chiefs and people to rally behind the government to achieve its developmental objectives.

Mr Dzamesi gave the assurance that the government would: ''leave no stone unturned'' to open up the rural areas especially the Hohoe District.

He said the Kpeve-Hohoe road has been awarded on contract adding that feeder roads in the district would also be repaired to facilitate economic activities.

Mr Dzamesi, addressing Heads of Departments and a cross section of assembly members at a meeting later, warned civil servants against dabbling in party politics instead of concentrating on their duties.

The Deputy Minister advised Heads of departments to organise periodic meetings with District Co-ordinating Directors to deliberate on how to ensure the development of the district.

Mr Dzamesi asked the Hohoe District Assembly to assist revenue collectors to enable to them generate more funds for development.

He later inspected work on the Hohoe Assembly Block under construction and work on 400 million cedi stores being funded by the European Union Micro Project.

Mr Dzamesi also inspected development projects at Hohoe, Santrokofi, Lolobi, Likpe, Wli, Leklebi, Ve-Golokwati and Liati-Wote.

Mr James Dogbe, Hohoe District Chief Executive and Mr Kofi Boateng, a Special Assistant to the Volta Regional Minister accompanied the Deputy Minister on his tour.
