Nii Sampah Kojo XI, Chief of Dome-Sampaman, in Ga South Municipality, has dismissed claims by one Mr Samuel Adamah Okine as being the first to be installed as Dome Faase chief.
At a news conference at Sampaman on Thursday, Nii Sampah Kojo declared as false media reports that Adamah Okine was the rightful chief of the village.
He also expressed surprise at the wrong information given to the people in Accra which was alleged to have been endorsed by the James Town Mantse, Obrempong Nii Kojo Ababio V, which necessitated the process of installing a chief for Dome Faase.
He affirmed that the rightful chief for Dome Faase who has been nominated, vetted and confirmed by Dome-Sampah Family at Sampaman is Nii Otokunor Sampah IX, and preparation is far advanced for his outdooring.
Explaining the processes of installing a chief at Dome Faase he said whoever is nominated would be requested to be vetted by the four heads of Sampah Family and pay allegiance to Nii Sampah Kojo and his principal elders of Dome-Sampaman who are the originators of Dome Faase.
He said if the nominee was successful and accepted by the four heads and elders of Sampah Family, he would be confirmed for instoolment as a chief.
He said after the confirmation of the nominee it would be made public by slaughtering of a sheep on his feet at Dome-Sampaman with drumming, firing of muskets and would be kept indoors for some days for some rituals to be performed for him by chief fetish priestess of the village.
Nii Sampah Kojo said having gone through all these processes the new chief would be outdoored at Dome-Sampaman before he is introduced to the people of Dome Faase with ceremonial recognition and support.
The new chief would then be introduced and swore an oath of allegiance to the James Town Chief, Obrempong Nii Kojo Ababio who would usher him into the James Town Traditional Council.
Nii Sampah queried: “Where was the so-called Samuel Adamah Okine nominated, vetted and confirmed by the four heads of Sampah Kojo Family without the knowledge and consent of the elders of Dome Faase. Who performed the rituals…and where was he kept before the outdooring ceremony?”
The Sampaman Mantse said: “if anyone claims to have installed himself as a chief of Dome Faase without going through the processes at Dome Sampaman then his nomination and installment is null and void.
“So long as Dome Faase village belongs to the people of Dome Sampaman, the chief, any head or caretaker of Dome Faase should be a descendant of Nii Kojo Sampah I, under whose leadership the village was established in the 17th century,” he added.
