Aduamoah-Kwahu (E/R), May 18, GNA - Nana Osei Akyeampong II, Kyidomhene of Aduamoah-Kwahu has donated a new chapel valued at 500 million cedis to the Methodist Church in the town, saying it was in appreciation of God's gracefulness to his family.
Nana Akyeampong, known in private life as Joseph Adae Bosompra, said he was touched by the plight of the members of the Methodist church, who had been worshipping in rented places. He told the Ghana News Agency that he started building the church single-handedly since 1994.
"I was baptized into the Methodist Church in 1945, the building at the time was a mud structure with corrugated iron sheets," he said adding that with time the structures started to disappear with the weather and finally there was no chapel at all."
He said even though he encountered some problems during the time of construction, he was able to complete the church with enthusiasm and dedication and some contributions of some members of the church. Delivering the sermon, Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese, urged Christians to be dedicated to the work of God, adding "there is blessing in doing the work of God."
