Chief inaugurates Imter-Party Advisory Committee

Hohoe, Apr. 7, GNA - Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of the Gbi-Traditional Area last Tuesday inaugurated an Inter-Party Advisory Committee for the Hohoe-North Constituency.

The aim of the committee is to see to it that the forth coming presidential and parliamentary elections were conducted peacefully and without acrimony in the constituency.

The committee comprised of executives of four political parties-- the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples National Convention (PNC) and the Convention Peoples Party (CPP). Other members are the local Press-Corp, the Electoral Commission, the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and traditional authorities. Inaugurating the committee, Togbega Gabusu, commended the parties for comporting themselves during the Voters registration exercise and hoped that the atmosphere would remain the same during the forthcoming general elections.

"In your campaign, you should learn to tolerate each other, avoid the use of provocative language, with the mind that you are one people from one traditional area", he said.

Togbega Gabusu charged the committee members to resolve as much as possible issues brought before rather making them police and courts cases. In a related development, Togbe Dagadu VII, Paramount Chief of the Akpini Traditional Area has called on his sub-chiefs to help ensure peaceful elections.

Addressing his sub-chiefs, Area Council Members and opinion leaders at Kpando last Tuesday , the Paramount Chief charged leaders of political parties to prevail on their supporters to eschew provocative utterances during their political campaign.

He warned against the use of abusive language and advised them to cultivate the spirit of oneness adding, that their political opponents were not enemies.

"Do not allow political party leaders to influence you with gifts, you are traditional leaders, stay away from politics," he advised the sub-chiefs.
