Naa Alhassan Andani, chief of Pishigu, has set out to promote improved sanitation practices and access to quality basic education within his jurisdiction as part of efforts to foster development.
To this end, he has presented sanitation equipment including rakes and wheelbarrows to areas in the Pishigu Township in the Karaga District of the Northern Region.
He has also presented quantities of dual desks to Pishigu D/A Primary School for use by pupils, who currently sit on the bare floor for classes.
Naa Andani, who is also Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, presented the sanitation equipment and furniture to his subjects at Pishigu on Monday assuring them of continuing in his efforts to bring development to the area.
He spoke of the need to practise good sanitation urging residents to inculcate the habit of keeping their communities clean to avoid diseases.
Naa Andani also pledge to support the school with reading materials to help improve education in the area urging parents to support the education of their children to secure their future.
He also inspected ongoing work on the construction of a dam at Pishigu as part of government’s One-Village One-Dam project urging the contractor to adhere to best standards to ensure that the dam was of high quality to contain enough water to address the needs of the people.
He spoke about the lack of access to potable water at Pishigu expressing gratitude to the government for constructing the dam in the area saying it would go a long way to bring relief to the people in terms of access to water.
Mr Alhassan Yakubu, Assembly Member for Pishigu Electoral Area, commended the chief for his efforts to bring development to the area saying the sanitation equipment would be distributed amongst the various zones in the town to use to keep their communities clean.
Mr Zakaria Issah, Head-teacher of Pishigu D/A Primary School, expressed gratitude to the chief for coming to the aid of pupils of the school saying the furniture would help in improving teaching and learning at the school.
