Chief presents equipment to school

Amanfrom, March.10, GNA - Nana Osei Kwadwo, Pampaso Krontihene of Kumasi and an educationist has presented a set of jerseys costing 1.5 million cedis to Osei Kwadwo Junior Secondary School (JSS) at Amanfrom in the Kwabre District to support sports development in the school.

Making the presentation to the school authorities at a short ceremony at Amanfrom on Tuesday, Nana Osei Kwadwo said he had earlier presented eight chairs and four tables for the teachers' and four cup-boards for the school at a total cost of two million cedis. He said though he started the school from the basic level in 1990 as a private school for the community but he has continued to provide logistic support to enhance the development of the school ever since the government took it over five years ago.

Nana Osei Kwadwo, who is also an ex assembly member for Amanfrom Electoral area stressed the importance of education and called on parents to invest in the education of their children to enable them become useful citizens.

Mr Appiah Boakye, headteacher of the school commended Nana Osei Kwadwo for his initiative and his love for education and said it was no wonder the school was named after him because of his continued contributions towards the development and progress of the school. On behalf of the school authorities, he expressed appreciation for the jerseys and other material support given to the school and hoped they will go a long way to promote not only sporting programmes but will also help to increase enrolment and effective teaching and learning in the school.

Mr Yaw Boakye, assembly member for Brofoyeduru electoral area said he hoped the children will appreciate the contributions of Nana Osei Kwadwo and work hard in their studies.

Mr Boakye said he was hopeful that other community members will emulate the gesture of Nana Osei Kwadwo not only in the area of education but in other fields of community development to contribute their quota.
