Ho, July 19, GNA - The Chiefs and Elders of Adaklu Traditional Area have called on government to make a definitive statement designating Adaklu-Waya as the district capital of the newly created Adaklu-Anyigbe District.
Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, Fiaga of Adaklu Traditional Area, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Ho, when he led a delegation of Chiefs and elders to meet the Ho District Chief Executive, Mr Mawutor Goh on the issue on Monday.
Togbe Gbogbi Atsa alleged that a counter Legislative Instrument (LI) designating Kpetoe as the capital that went to Parliament raised suspicions.
He said preparatory work was going on at Kpetoe instead of Adaklu-Waya and expressed fears that this might be used as an excuse to site the capital at Kpetoe by the September deadline.
Togbe Gbogbi Atsa said Mr Goh failed to visit Adaklu-Waya to inspect preparations there towards the hosting of the new district capital. He said this made him and his people to suspect foul play in the matter.
Mr Goh, however, said he had not received any official notification from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) on the matter.
He said the primary objective of ensuring that the Ho District was split into two had been achieved and that the sitting of the capital of the new district need not cause any anxiety.
Mr Goh said as a result of the split the existing Ho District and the newly created Adaklu-Anyigbe District had been allocated 4.3 billion cedis and 4.7 billion cedis respectively for development this year.
