Chiefs and people of Breman celebrate Odwira Festival

The chiefs and people of Breman Traditional Area have expressed their appreciation to the government for completing development projects in the area.

Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu III, the President of Breman Traditional Council, said this when he addressed a grand durbar of chiefs and people at Breman Asikumaas part of activities marking the 2014 Odwira Afahye celebrations.

Odeefou Amoakwa Buadu mentioned water expansion project at Breman Asikuma, small town water project at Benin and Baako as well as 18 communities in the traditional area hooked to the national electrifity grid through the Rural Electrification Programme as some of the projects.

He said he and his people had resolved not to let the development of the area be the sole responsibility of the government and had developed a five-year strategic development plan.

He said under the programme the youth would be developed through education and skills empowerment, agriculture, agro-processing and general agriculture business, health sector improvement and also change the face of tourism.

Odeefou Amoakwa Buadu said in the face of challenges, the traditional council had made modest achievements by providing scholarships to some needy but brilliant students in senior high schools with support from the Central Regional Development Corporation, they had established an ICT center at Breman Asikuma.

He said the University of Cape Coast had set up a distant education learning center at Breman Asikuma to help more people in the area to have access to Tertiary Education in the District.

The traditional council and a non-governmental organisation have trained 75 young people in bamboo crafting.
