Chiefs, people of Tepa honour Police Commander

Tepa (Ash), March 2, GNA - The chiefs and people of the Tepa traditional area have honoured the Police Commander for Ahafo-Ano North and South districts, Chief Superintendent Joseph Yaw Opoku, for what they described as his high sense of professionalism and devotion to duty.

The District Police Commander now on transfer to Sunyani and his family were presented with assorted items and an undisclosed amount of money.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, Omanhene of Tepa, noted that Mr Opoku's exceptional leadership skills had tremendously helped to improve the working relationship and co-operation between the police and the public.

"The Police Commander indeed endeared himself to us by his good and sound professional judgement, patience, tact and honesty and for these we shall forever be grateful".

Nana Atwenewa Ampem appealed to the personnel of the Police Service to always respect the fundamental rights of suspects.

The Omanhene expressed the hope that heads of department and other public servants in the area would learn from the standard set by Mr Opoku to win public confidence and support.

Mr Opoku said he was humbled by the honour done him by the chiefs and people and appealed to them to extend the same level of co-operation and support to the one who would be taking over from him.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Yaw Adu-Gyimah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Commander, was among the high profile personalities who attended the ceremony.
