Nkoranza, July 17, GNA - Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, has appealed to the Brong Ahafo Regional Security Council to intervene in the claim of land in his area by the Gonja chief, Yabonwura Bawa Doshi.

He urged the council to detail security personnel to the area to offset a bloody showdown as the Gonja chief had enskinned two chiefs in Alhassan Akuraa and Kurawura Akuraa in the Kintampo North District. Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom, who is President of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chefs, made the call at a durbar of chiefs and people at Nkoranza to honour Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah and the Deputy Minister, Nana Kwadwo Kwakye, who were on a tour of the area. He expressed concern about how the Gonja chief, whom he shared boundary with in the northern part of Kintampo, had attempted to claim land belonging to Nkoranza by enskinning the two chiefs. He expressed the fear of a clash between the followers of the Gonja chief and his people, which could result in bloodshed and called on the Regional Security Council to intervene.

Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom commended the Regional Minister and his Deputy for the visit and pledged the support of the people for the success of his administration.

The Omanhene commended the government for awarding the Nkoranza/Ejura and Nkoranza/Sekodumase roads on contract for rehabilitation but complained about the slow pace of work by the contractors.

He appealed to the government to tar the road from Nkoranza to Boabeng-Fiema to facilitate the movement of visitors and tourists to the Monkey Sanctuary.

Mr Baffour Awuah called for the continued support of the people to the leadership in the region to enhance its development.
