Chiefs urged to help solve chieftaincy disputes in Adansi

Fomena (Ash), Oct 25, GNA - The Adansi Traditional Council has been urged to assist in solving all chieftaincy disputes that have rocked the Adansi state and had retarded its development.

Mr A.K. Boakye, the Assistant Secretary of the Adansi Development Advisory Board (ADAB), made the call on Saturday, when the board presented its maiden report to the Council at Fomena.

"The board is respectfully inviting chiefs to use their wisdom to address and manage all chieftaincy disputes within the state", he said. Currently there are serious chieftaincy disputes in Akrokerri, Odumasi, Ayaase, Dompoase, Fumso, Akrofuom, Asokwa, Bobriase and Bodwesango.

Mr Boakye said the board, which had been tasked by the council to make proposals to facilitate the development of the area, had set up a mediation committee to go into the disputes. "We have set up a mediation committee to solve these chieftaincy disputes to enhance the implementation of the board's development agenda and programmes", he said.

He announced that a number of sub-committees including education and health chaired by Mr I.K. Gyasi, a renowned educationist, and general development headed by Mr P.V. Obeng, a former presidential advisor, had been formed to facilitate the work of the board.

Mr Boakye said a legal and institutional framework had been developed for the board to regulate its activities, which included "mobilising all natives, citizens and well wishers of Adansi all over the world to take pride in and participate in the development of Adansi".

The members of the council expressed their confidence in the board and hoped that, with their involvement, all chieftaincy problems would be solved.

The Adansihemaa, Nana Kwantwiwaa Apoma II, appealed to the various regents to open up and allow the mediation committee of the board to work in solving the disputes.

Nana Adu Amponti Dwaa II, the regent of Bodwesango appealed to the board to consider other chieftaincy disputes apart from those ones at Odumase and Bodwesango.

He was certain that the board would perform to bring about development in the Adansi area.

Nana Assiama Guahyia Ababio, the Edubiasehene and acting President of the Adansi Traditional Council, urged his colleague chiefs to encourage the members of the board to work diligently.
