A Koforidua High court has placed an injunction on the installation of a new chief at Somanya in the Eastern region.
This was after two rival factions threatened mayhem during an attempt to install a new chief Tuesday.
The Ologo and Nuer families are begrudging each other over who has the right to install a new Chief in the town.
According to the King Maker of the Ologo family, Devine Ologo, Romeo Tettet Kofi, the aspiring chief does not belong to the royal family to merit a throne in the town, hence their decision to seek for an interlocutory injunction, which has been granted by the court.
“The people of Somanya don’t like what is going on at all, but they are just respecting the rule of law.
“The person who wants to be sworn in as the chief has no right to do so because he doesn’t come from the royal family.
“He is neither from the paternal or maternal side of the stool. He is a northerner by birth so I don’t think he has any moral right to call himself Kunor of our land,” Ologo told Starr News.
