Children living in the Oblogo/Tettegu Electoral Area, have been challenged to go to school in order to be great leaders in future.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, the President of the Global Support Foundation, Mr Emmanuel Tetteh Angmortey charged the children to tell their parents to take them to school because they are the future of the nation and needed to be given the privilege and right to education.

He explained that parents should make it a point to imbibe knowledge in their wards for a better tomorrow through school and home tutelage.

Speaking at a learning Competition organised by Global Support Foundation in Accra, the Unit Committee Chairman of the Area, Mr Mawunyegah Mark Atukpa noted that most children in the community do not have access to quality education because their parents do not see it as a need to do so.

He said majority of the parents prefer to keep their children at home or on menial jobs than investing in their education to be responsible adults in future.

Mr Atukpa said his desire is to see more children empowered to go to school as they see their fellow friends participate in the learning competition and to coerce their parents to take them to school.

The Unit Committee Chairman called on parents across the nation to make it a point to educate their wards to lessen the burden to society.

According to him, most adult illiterates who feel they are not cut out to the formal sector engage in vicious activities that endanger the life of many due the under education and development of the physiological, psychological and emotionally faculties of the individual while growing.

Two children emerged winners of the learning competition.
