The Anaji Christ the King Methodist Church in Takoradi, has feted the aged and vulnerable members of the church.
They were also given free medical screening on malaria, high blood pressure, sugar levels, ECG and postdate cancer.
Mr Emmanuel Dzisah, project coordinator explained that the programmes were organised every December by some volunteers from within and outside the church to cater for the needs of the aged in the society.
The Programme dubbed ”caring for the aged and the elderly” Provided free health care, breakfast, snack and a free lunch for the aged.
He said they were doing this in collaboration with some medical centres like Mega Sight optical centre, the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and West View medical centre so that they could provide further care for those with special cases.
Mr Dzisah said the aged were a critical group of people, who sometimes suffered loneliness, isolation and seen as a problem in most homes to the extent that some were tagged as witches and neglected by their families.
He said the situation was unfortunate and stressed that the aged should be showed love and given the needed attention and care by their families.
Mr Benjamin Akonu Otoo, a Pensioner advised the aged to always endeavour to take care of their health by eating healthy foods and engaging themselves in activities that would improve on the quality of their health.
He asked them to stay positive and optimistic and have a free mind that would give them a "young and healthy heart".
The beneficiaries showed their appreciation for what they described as wonderful experience, which they noted helped reduce their stress levels and loneliness.
They prayed that the programme could be organised on quarterly basis and not annually so as to reduce the rate of boredom and isolation.
Others who impacted on society were honoured with special packages.
