Tema, May 08, GNA -- Members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church, at Subrepor, near Tema, on Saturday presented assorted food items, provisions, bed sheets and detergents worth over 5 million cedis to the children's ward of the Tema General Hospital. They earlier on embarked on a three-hour clean-up exercise of the Female's ward and Laundry of the Hospital.

The Minister In-Charge of the Church, Rev. Joseph Appiah Oddei, who made the presentation said the donations, made possible through contributions made by the congregation during its passion week, were their widow's mite to support the Hospital in the provision of quality health care to the people of Tema and its environs. He stated that the gesture was also to serve as an incentive to help solve some of the problems of the Hospital. He said the Government, with its scarce resources alone could not cater for all the health needs of the people and therefore stressed the need for Philanthropists, benevolent organisations and individuals to complement the government's efforts.

The Principal Nursing Officer of the General female's ward, Ms Eugenia Agbolosoo thanked the church and promised that the items would be used for the purpose of which they were donated and hoped other organisations would emulate the gesture to assist in providing quality health care.
