republic
Cape Coast Jan. 4 GNA - Christians in the Cape Coast municipality on Sunday attended church service as part of activities to celebrate the 11 -years of the fourth republic and also to thank God for ushering them into the new year.
Most of the churches were filled to capacity and extra seats had to be provided for those who could not get space within. Special prayers were said for the nation, President J.A Kufour and Vice President Aliu Mahama, Ministers of State, Council of State and the welfare of all Ghanaians.
At the Infant Jesus Parish, Reverend, Father Matthew Manu, in a sermon Said, the nation could only enjoy peace, stability, good harvest, and love for one another if Christians abide by the commandments and wisdom of God.
He said as Christians, they should always embrace the truth and lead responsible lives and allow the graces that they received in the New Year to reflect in whatever they do or say.
Fr. Manu said Ghanaians were privileged people because God has granted them so many good things in spite of the lack of love for one another, bribery and corruption and indiscipline in the nation and asked that in this new year all Christians should endeavour to change their ways to enable them to enjoy the true love and care of God.
He said in whatever Christians do they should always put the nation first, since that is the only nation they have and called on Ghanaians to ensure free and elections this year.
He pointed out that Ghanaians could have peaceful and incident free elections if they allow God's wisdom to reflect in their lives and that they should make the wisdom of God be their watchword during the campaign period. He asked God to protect and guide political and traditional leaders in whatever they do to enable them to build a blessed nation.
