Christians reminded to show humility

Accra Oct. 30, GNA - The Reverend Mrs Comfort Afele, Pastor of the Tema District Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church on Sunday reminded Christians on the need to show humility in their dealings with all kinds of people, saying "humility is the key that opens all doors." She advised that no matter the position Christians found themselves, there was the need to be humble in their relationships, as Christ, whom "we emulate humbled himself even unto death."

Rev. Afele was giving a sermon on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the Lartebiokorshie District of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church on the theme: "Breaking New Grounds." She noted that a Christian could only become great if he humbled himself, adding, "If you want to be the greatest you have to humble yourself. If you humble yourself God will exalt you." Rev. Afele urged Christians to always remember where they came from and where they are going, saying that would aid them to demonstrate humility in all they do.

Pride, she said, always preceded a fall and described proud people as the living dead in Christ.

"Human beings are just flesh and blood. It is needless to be proud," Rev. Afele said.

Rev Joe Komladzei, District Pastor of Lartebiokorshie Evangelical Presbyterian Church, urged members of the church to portray the universality of the church by bringing people of different ethnic backgrounds into the church and by taking evangelism more seriously. He advised leaders of the various branches of the church to show more interest in the activities of the youth and children, as they were future leaders of the church.

Rev Komladzei said, "All congregations are therefore directed to include the youth in their programmes to empower them to develop their God-given talents."

Pledging his support for the youth in the church, he urged them to be innovative, though not forgetting their roots, the doctrines and tradition of the E.P church.
