Church hosts Journalists in Western Region

Takoradi, Nov.25, GNA - Mr Freebody Acquah-Mensah, President of the Takoradi Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Thursday said the Church was a Christian institution and did not practice occultism.

Speaking at a luncheon organised by the Church for media personnel at Takoradi, Mr Acquah-Mensah said the Church had embraced teachings of Jesus Christ and uses the Holy Bible.

He said the Church's doctrine was to testify that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and mediator of mankind.

Mr Acquah-Mensah said the Book of Mormon, one of the books used by the Church was also used by some Christian institution. He said the Church did not pay salaries to the clergy but the clergy work and use their own resources to support the Church. Mr Kweku Prah-Ghartey, Director of Public Affairs of the Church, said under its social responsibility programme, the Church had donated books to schools, wheel chairs to the physically challenged and equipped unemployed youth with skills.
