Ho, Jan 5, GNA - Apostle Frank Avorkliya, Chairman of the New Covenant Apostolic Church on Thursday urged leaders of the Church to preach love, tolerance and respect for divergent views wherever they are as the country moves towards this year's general elections. "Let members know that we cannot worship God when the nation falls into chaos and crisis" he exhorted.

Apostle Avorkliya made the exhortation when he launched the 50th. anniversary celebrations of the Church at Ho under the theme, "Going on to perfection: 50 years with the Lord".

He urged members of the Church to exercise their civic obligations of registering as voters and help promote a cordial, peaceful and godly atmosphere during the elections.

Apostle Avorkliya said the Church must come to terms with the reality of HIV/AIDS and its devastating effects on its membership and the country.

He therefore, exhorted leaders of the Church to preach and encourage abstinence from irresponsible sexual behaviour among its membership.

"For those who have contracted the disease there should be compassion in order not to fail God, country and community", he implored. Apostle Avorkliya urged members of the Church to resolve to always pray for its leaders and people in leadership positions in the country so that in the next fifty years the Church and the country will become strong and prosperous and "our children and grandchildren will have tranquillity to serve God."
