Professor Daniel Buor, Vice Chancellor of the Valley View University (VVU), has pointed out that church meetings for students are not meant to indoctrinate them but to draw them closer to God.
He said the University does not only seek the academic development of its students, but their spiritual development as well.
Prof Buor said this over the weekend during the 20th matriculation of students of the university at Oyibi.
Over 1,644 students made up of 1,023 males and 621 females matriculated for the 2014/2015 academic year.
He said the University was working hard to ensure that tertiary education and the Adventist philosophy of education were made easily accessible to several regions of the country.
"The Takoradi Distance Learning Centre was inaugurated in the course of the academic year, and also sandwich programmes shall commence in the western corridor and our Tamale centres in August 2015", he intimated
He urged the students to respect the dress code of the University, and abide by it, and also respect all the rules and regulations of the school which seek to build them for life.
He implored students who might have grievances to seek redress through the appropriate channels, as the school maintained a policy that protected all and sundry.
He expressed appreciation to Unibank for donating 120, 000 Ghana Cedis to the Techiman campus of VVU, to support infrastructural development.
He pointed out that all activities of the University were evangelistic-oriented, designed to bring students, faculty and staff to the saving grace of God through Christ.
He praised the faculty and the administrative staff for their research and publications, as 15 peer reviewed papers were published every month.
"I urge you to be serious with your studies and justify the huge expenses your parents and guardians are incurring on you," he added.
Prof Buor noted that although the students had the right to belong to political parties of their choice, they had no right to conduct partisan political activities on campus.
"Besides, all forms of occultism are not allowed and whoever will indulge in such activities will be dismissed", he warned.
