Oblogo (G/R), Sept 13, GNA - Nii Kwaku Bibini III, Chief of Oblogo, has expressed concern about the inability of Churches to pay 150,000 cedis every three months as rent for using classrooms in the area for worship.

He said it was the duty of the Churches to assist the Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) to improve educational standard through the provision of school structures or teaching materials. He urged the Churches worshiping in the schools at Oblogo to ensure the regular maintenance of the buildings they worshiped in to build a stronger Church-Community unity to advance the development of the town. Nii Bibini, who was addressing members of the Churches worshiping in classrooms in the town, said the unity of the Churches and Oblogo Township was very essential for growth and progress and urged them to contribute generously to the welfare of the schools and the children by paying their rent regularly to the PTAs.

Mr Tetteh Ablade, Head Teacher of Teteogu One Primary School, reminded the Church members of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly's rule and regulations concerning Churches, which stated; "every quarter Churches must pay some amount to the PTA to improve facilities in the schools".

He expressed regret that the Assembly had not responded to a request to provide the school with refuse containers. He expressed the hope that nongovernmental organisations would provide support for the establishment of a kindergarten in the town as directed by the Ghana Education Service. Nana Nkrumah Aprey III, a teacher who chaired the meeting, also urged the Churches to brighten the corner where they were.
