Hohoe (V/R), May 26, GNA - Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area on Thursday called on the citizens of the area to collectively put all hands to the development wheel and grind to success or posterity would judge them for inaction.

He, therefore, urged them to live in peace, which was a necessary ingredient for development to thrive. Togbega Gabusu, who made the call at a mini durbar to mark his 17th year of his enthronement at Hohoe, said the event was significant, as it fell rightly on Thursday May 25, 1989, the day of his installation. "By God's grace, all the initial acrimonies were surmounted and 17 years has soon elapsed", Togbega said.

He urged the people to eschew the "pull-him-down" syndromes, which was rife in the area and garner all human and material resources together towards the socio-economic take-off of the area.

Togbega lamented that the chieftaincy institution was plagued with much uncertainties, resulting from the absence of royalties due to lack of minerals and stool lands in the region, which had made the institution burdensome, as compared to other areas.

He asked for the revival of communal spiritedness, tolerance, the promotion of patriotism among the youth, who would take over the reigns of the country in the future.

Togbega entreated other tribes in the traditional area to continue to maintain the peace for the realization of corporate aspirations.
