Civil Servants in Mfantseman initiated into office

Saltpond (C/R), Jan. 25, GNA - Civil Servants working in the Mfantse= man Municipal Assembly have been sworn into office in accordance with Section= 91 (1) of the Civil Service Law of 1993.

They swore the official oath, oath of allegiance and the oath of secrecy which were administered by Mrs Mary Odro, Municipal Magistrate. Mr Kofi Aidoo, Municipal Chief Personnel Officer, said the swearing in of the Civil Servants was a directive from the Office of the Chief of Sta= ff to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to revive the Civil Service Law which had been neglected in the past. He said the Law stipulates that Civil Servant employed by the State must take the oaths to initiate them into office.

Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) told the Gha= na News Agency in an interview that he was happy the law had been reintroduc= ed. He said the oaths would compel the officers to show loyalty and commitment to the government of the day. Mr Hayfron said the Oath of Secrecy would prevent workers from divulging confidential information to unauthorised persons. "The Law will prevent people from stealing official records and sell= ing them to the opponents of the government," the MCE said, adding that the malfeasance in government offices would now be minimized.
