Coastal TV feeds coronavirus frontline workers in Cape Coast

Coastal Television, a community Television Station based in Cape Coast has initiated a two week project to provide one hot meal a day for the response team of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) holding bay at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH).

The initiative dubbed 'Hope kitchen" was engineered by Mr and Mrs Selete Nyomi, Directors of the TV station, with support mainly through contributions from their school year mates, friends and relatives.

The couple said they were unable to provide PPEs for the team, but could at least motivate them by providing them with lunch while they dedicated themselves as frontliners in fighting the pandemic.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Nyomi, Executive Director of Coastal TV, said the gesture was their little contribution to support the fight against the spread of the deadly disease.

"From now till 15th April, we want to supply our frontline health workers of the CVID-19 response team with one hot meal a day as a gesture of encouragement while they remain in isolation," he said.

Mr Nyomi commended the health workers for their commitment, dedication and sacrifices exhibited in this difficult period and assured them that a ‘handsome reward’ awaited them in Heaven.

He hoped that the gesture would go a long way to boost the morale of the health workers to give of their best to save lives.

Dr Eric Kofi Ngyedu, Chief Executive Officer of CCTH on behalf of the frontline workers expressed gratitude to Coastal TV and its directors, saying the gesture to feed the frontline staff was timely.

He called on individuals and corporate institutions to support the Region's COVID-19 response team in whatever form to help contain the disease.

Dr Ngyedu encouraged the health workers to continue to give of their best.

He advised the public to continue to adhere to the laid down physical protocols of washing their hands regularly under running water, observing physical distancing among others to stay safe.
