Suhum (E/R), Sept. 29, GNA- More than five hundred farmers from Kwodwo Hum and its communities near Suhum on Sunday commended the government for the mass spraying of cocoa farms in the country.
They said this has resulted in increased production.
Nana Kofi Yirenkyi Chief farmer of the area told a farmers meeting at Kwodwo Hum in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District in the Eastern Region. Nana Yirenkyi said the meeting was to appeal to the government to provide farmers with a pension and scholarship scheme for themselves and their children.
Nana Mankrado Otu-Larbi of Kwodwo Hum who chaired the function said the farmers support the NPP government for the exercise and appealed for cutlasses and Wellington boots.
Nana Out-Larbi called on the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District Assembly and the Department of Feeder Roads to re-gravel the seven kilometres feeder road linking the town with Anum Apapam and Suhum to enable them cart food crops and cocoa to the buying centres.
