Some commercial drivers in Kumasi are planning to stage a demonstration against what they describe as harassment by the police and city guards.
Though the planned action is being orchestrated by ?floating? taxi drivers, there are indications that drivers from other unions might join in.
No date has been set for the protest, which will take the form of a strike and a street march.
LUV fm?s sources say the drivers have however scheduled to meet on Saturday to come up with a date.
Some of the drivers complained of frustration as a result of harassment by security guards why they accused of extorting monies from them.
One of them said, they are arrested for wrongful parking and stopping even though there are no parking spaces in the metropolis.
The drivers disagree to suggestions that they are breaching the law by not using the authorized loading point at Kejetia Lorry Park.
They argued that the space at the lorry park is inadequate to accommodate all vehicles.
Meanwhile a GPRTU source has confirmed the intended action saying the organizers have notified the union in writing.
The sources say the leadership of the union is holding consultations on the matter and it is yet to take a final decision.
