About 41 communities in Kintampo South District of Brong-Ahafo Region are to be connected to the national electricity grid, and the first phase has commenced in 22 communities .
Mr. Kwadwo Nyame Datiakwa, Kintampo South District Chief Executive (DCE), disclosed this when Nana Adu Baffo Adade II, Odikro of Agyina and his elders called on him, to discuss development programmes in the community.
The DCE said Government had made funds ready for the projects, and gave the assurance that none of the beneficiary communities would be left out.
Mr. Datiakwa appealed to the youth to engage in communal labour to attract more support from Government and non-governmental organizations.
He announced that some mining companies would conduct feasibility studies in the district towards the prospecting of gold.
Mr. Datiakwa said the companies were advised to seek the mandate of the traditional authorities to avoid problems.
Nana Adade gave the assurance that his people would support the electrification project.
He appealed to Government to build a bungalow for teachers in the area, as lack of the facility had caused some teachers to refuse postings to the place.
Mr. David Akabo-Mensah, Assembly Member, commended Government for including Agyina in the School Feeding Programme, which he said had resulted in an increase in school population.**
