Toase (Ash), May 24, GNA - Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) who have misused funds meant for the prevention and fight against HIV/AIDS would be prosecuted, Mr Charles Yeboah, Atwima District Chief Executive has warned. He said it was a matter of regret that some NGOs and CBOs involved in the fight against the spread of the pandemic were squandering funds given them purposely for HIV/AIDS programmes.

He was speaking at a six-day workshop on HIV/AIDS and vulnerable children at Toase near Nkawie in the Atwima district at the weekend. The workshop was organised by the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) for assembly members, chiefs and hairdressers drawn from Toase and Nkawie. Mr Yeboah asked the Atwima district focal person on HIV/AIDS to include more women as counsellors in such workshops.

He advised the counsellors to strictly keep every information on their clients confidential and should under no circumstances divulge any such information to anybody.

Mrs Bestrice Appah, Atwima District Director of Health Services, said her outfit had voluntary counselling units for all cases including HIV/AIDS.
