Residents of Brahoho in the Nkoranza Municipality bagged an amount of GH¢2,100.00 at a fund-raising rally organised by them to purchase sports equipment for the local Junior High School (JHS).
The programme, which coincided with the school’s 25th anniversary celebration was attended by hundreds of people including the Nkoranza Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Godfred Axolu.
Mr Axolu praised the people for organising the programme towards the development of the school, adding that their action was a perfect indication that the “school is your own property”.
He called for the collaborative efforts of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to promote discipline among the students for enhanced academic standard in the school.
Mr Axolu advised the students to learn hard and pursue their education to the higher levels to enable them acquire gainful employment and better their livelihood.
He said, “a responsible student is a great asset to the community”, and therefore urged parents and guardians to invest much of their resources in the education of their children to enable them develop their talents and achieve their goals.
Mr. Joseph Anto-Appiah, Assemblyman for the area, expressed gratitude to the people for their unity of purpose and urged the non-resident citizens of the area to visit home regularly to offer their widow’s mite in aid of the on-going development projects in the community.
Nana Manu Obeng, an elder of the town, who presided advised parents to provide their children with the necessary basic needs to sustain their interest in school.
