Concentrate on development - Fetteh citizens told

Gomoa Fetteh, Sept 5, GNA - Nana Ato Arthur, Deputy Central Regional Minister, has urged the Chiefs, elders and people of the Gomoa Fetteh, to concentrate their efforts on development instead of litigation and disputes.

The Deputy Minister who was speaking at a durbar to climax the annual Akwambo festival of the town at the weekend, expressed concern about the effects of chieftaincy disputes, which was impeding the development of the town.

Nana Ato Arthur announced that roads in the area would be rehabilitated to make them accessible.

Nana Abor Yamoah II, Chief of the town, said the people were tired of litigation and appealed to those fanning disputes to bury their differences and to pursue peace and development. He stated that if they could quantify the resources and time they were wasting in their actions and the effect on the town's progress they would realise the harm they were doing to it.

The Chief said that his doors were open to the opposing faction for dialogue and reconciliation, adding that, Fetteh was carving a name for the Gomoa District.

"It is the eye of Gomoa with its tourist attractions, the Feyenord Football Academy, which had produced the first team from the area to participate in the Premier League and the Village of Hope Orphanage. He appealed for the rehabilitation of the roads leading to the town to promote the tourist centres there and commended the management of the White Sand Beach Resort for deciding to rehabilitate some of the town streets.

Mr Fred Asare, Director of the Village of Hope Orphanage who was the Chairman for the occasion reminded the people that development could only be achieved in peace and unity. He said that there were investors ready to do business in the area but had been put off by the chieftaincy dispute in the town.
